FrightFest is upon us once more! Five blood-gore-and-scare-filled days in central London, with plenty of film watching to do in between.

The sixth Evil Dead film is pretty downbeat but thoroughly gruesome. It’s the blistering blood boil of the franchise that has found its pseudo-anthology swagger, and it’s also a bloody big metaphor.

Steeped in gothic flourishes, Scream 7 overcooks the nostalgia, which is saying something for this meta-franchise.
